A CHARITY fundraiser that took place in Cirencester in April 2017 had a helping hand from one of the UK’s leading nurseries.
WellChild was hosting the Spring into Gardening event on Thursday, April 6 at the Royal Agricultural University and Wyevale Nurseries loaned the charity a number of plants.
Adrian Hoare, Garden Design & Domestic Landscape Sales Manager at Wyevale Nurseries in Hereford, explained: “We’re delighted to be able to help the children’s charity with its gardening event. Attendees will be able to discover this season’s must have plants and learn how to create eye-catching floral displays to transform their own garden at home.
“WellChild is a national children’s charity, which helps to get seriously ill children out of hospital and home to their families wherever possible.
“We have loaned the organisation a number of plants to display at the fundraising event such as Camellia japonica rosa, Pittosporum Tenuifolium ‘Elizabeth’, Polemonium ‘Heaven Scent’, Anemone ‘Bordeaux’, Allium hollandicum ‘Purple Sensation’ and a number of Hellebores.”
The event was chaired by TV presenter and producer, Camilla Bassett-Smith. Attendees learned the tricks of the trade with live demonstrations from green-fingered garden designers, Caroline Tatham and Kate Durr.
Caroline, Founder and Principal at Cotswold Gardening School, added: “We would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to Wyevale Nurseries for loaning us a wide selection of its trademark top quality perennials, shrubs and trees. Together they will form a sumptuous display of colour, shape and texture, offering an inspirational back drop for the evening.”
During the event, there was also an illustrated talk from Chelsea gold-medallist, Olivia Kirk, where people will were able to gain top tips on how to design an award-winning garden.
The evening featured an auction in aid of WellChild, with a range of prizes to be won, including two tickets to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show.
The product selection available from Wyevale Nurseries is enviable across the industry and the talented team regularly introduces new, award-winning plant varieties.
Its main business is to supply garden centres, landscape contractors, local authorities, foresters and landowners with a comprehensive array of trees, shrubs, hedging, herbaceous and specimen plants.
