The winners of the Garden Centre Association’s (GCA) most prestigious awards including its Garden Centres of Excellence were announced at its annual conference on Tuesday, January 28, 2020.

Christmas tree provider Pines and Needles is going green this festive season by ditching plastic artificial trees from its stores.
Founded by Sam and Josh Lyle more than 20 years ago, the company is joining the global drive to be more sustainable in 2019 by only supplying natural firs grown on its picturesque Scottish plantations to customers.
The trees Pines and Needles will be selling for this Christmas are left to mature for 10 years on average to mature, allowing them to absorb carbon as they grow.

New garden centre Rosebourne in Berkshire is celebrating a fantastic first year of trading after turning over more than £6 million.
Celebrating its one-year anniversary, Rosebourne marked this impressive achievement by throwing a huge birthday party for the public on Sunday 6th October, 2019.

Herefordshire firewood company Certainly Wood has launched a new £400K firewood processing line - one of the largest of its kind in the world. The project was part funded by the Rural Development Programme for England under the Countryside Productivity Forestry Grant scheme.

THE AUGUST Bank Holiday Weekend helped lift sales at garden centres across the country at the end of the month according to the Garden Centre Association’s (GCA) Barometer of Trade report.

Leading garden centre group, Haskins Garden Centres, has allocated all 600 team members with a reusable water bottles to help reduce single-use plastic in the overall business.
Head office has been looking further into the company’s recycling and waste policy in order to make small steps along the way to reduce its environmental footprint.
In order to kickstart an awareness campaign, Haskins chose to reduce the use of single-use water bottles and cups in the workplace and issued all staff with a refillable water bottle.
