Town & country partners with breast cancer now to launch charity range of stylish gardening products

Town & Country will be donating 10 per cent of sales from the three new charity range of products: gloves, secateurs, and a gardening pouch to the UK’s largest breast cancer charity, Breast Cancer Now

It is recommended that being active for 20-25 minutes every day, including gardening, can help reduce your risk of breast cancer

Over 50,000 women in the UK are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, this means that one in eight women in the UK will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.

Town & Country, one of the UK’s leading gardening brands that offers one of the most comprehensive collections of gardening gloves in the industry, has joined forces with Breast Cancer Now, the UK’s largest breast cancer charity, to bring gardeners a charity range of limited edition stylish, pink gardening products.

Carrying out 150 minutes of moderate physical activity every week can help reduce your risk of developing breast cancer. This means being active for 20-25 minutes every day, of which gardening can play a part, can help you to remain fit and reduce your risk of developing the disease.

Eluned Hughes, Head of Public Health and Information at Breast Cancer Now, said:

“Twenty or twenty-five minutes of daily physical activity can reduce your risk of breast cancer and we know that this can include structured exercise as well as other every day activities, such as gardening. Any activity that makes you warmer, breathe harder and makes your heart beat faster counts so we would encourage women across the UK to get out and about in their garden this spring and summer.”

There are three products in the new range; gloves, secateurs, and a gardening pouch, with 10% from the sale of each product being donated to Breast Cancer Now to help fund vital breast cancer research. The three products have all been designed with the charity’s iconic pink colour scheme in mind, and boast maximum functionality paired with contemporary design, making the tools aesthetically pleasing and easy to spot in the garden.

The gloves (£4.99) are part of Town & Country’s bamboo range, made of natural breathable fibres to offer a luxuriously soft feel. This unique material is naturally hypoallergenic and antibacterial so is perfect for gardeners with sensitive skin who often struggle to find the perfect glove. With a latex coating, these gloves offer additional protection against thorns, and the fitted wrists ensure dexterity is still paramount.

The bypass secateurs (£7.99) have a pink cushioned, soft-grip handle and built in safety catch, making them extremely easy to use, even when wearing gloves, and are perfect for light duty pruning.  The chrome plated carbon steel blades make the tool able to cut branches and stems up to 2cm thick.

Also, in the charity range is an elegant gardening pouch (£12.99). The pouch, with a contemporary floral design in pink and white, helps to keep tools, gloves and gardening accessories close by.  With an extendable strap the pouch can be clipped around the waist or hung from the shoulder for ease of use. It has three pockets, one of which is the idea home for the complementing secateurs, and the eyelet in the front pocket allows for twine to make typing plants easier too.

Breast Cancer Now is the UK’s largest breast cancer charity, dedicated to funding research into the disease.
