“We’re really pleased to hear that the children from Happy Cats Childminders visited their local garden centre. As a brand, we’re passionate about encouraging children to get outside, enjoy nature and have fun – so it’s really rewarding to hear that these children have enjoyed coming to Haskins to choose the vegetables they want to see growing in their community garden."

“If you visit the Haskins website, you’ll find a section called ‘Garden Gang,’ which provides parents with free gardening projects and activities to keep outdoor busy bees entertained. We have a variety of quizzes, activity sheets, puzzles and games available.”

Helen and Steve Pond, owners of Happy Cats Childminders, have been involved in Windmill Lane Community Happy Cats Childminders visit visit Haskins Garden CentreGarden for several years. Helen commented:

“Gardening brings a great deal of joy to the children we look after. We have just shown them how to harvest the lettuce, which we bought from Haskins, and now they are looking forward to planting their new vegetables and herbs. We want the children to understand the importance of replenishing the garden in preparation for when crops are harvested."

“Our other aim with the community garden, is to teach the children about growing plants and produce in order to contribute to the local community. All the produce we grow in the garden is taken home to the children’s families or distributed to neighbours and other members of our local community.”
