Summer plant care from Lechuza

As the seasons change, so do your houseplant’s needs. Indoor vegetation is heavily affected by outdoor changes, so to ensure your plants bloom all through the summer, now is the time to start preparing for the upcoming season.

Though some sun-loving plants like succulents and cacti are well adapted to high temperatures, plants that are kept indoors are not acclimated to the extremes of a summer heat wave. Leafy tropicals are particularly susceptible to damage from heat, and if too severely damaged, might not recover.

There’s plenty you can do in advance of and during the summer months to make sure indoor plants survive.

Key account manager for Lechuza, Ian Riggs, suggested some tips and tricks on how to care for plants during this time. He says: “When the weather warms up, you’ll feel the need to water your plants more often than usual, however this can be a dangerous path to follow. Overwatering can lead to plant burn and water evaporation. This is why self-watering planters are the best type of solution to avoid these types of, potentially damaging, problems.

“Appropriate watering is key to indoor plant care and Lechuza’s self-watering planters make this job easier! Our products take the guesswork out of when and how much to water, as they are built with a smart irrigation system – allowing plants to flourish naturally. To help plants retain their moisture,  we also recommend using our Lechuza-PON on top and or within the soil. This contains added nutrients and adds a decorative finish to your plant pot.”

All the Lechuza self-watering planters are made from high-quality plastic, recyclable, UV-proof, shatter-proof and weather-proof materials.
